Planeteria is excited to attend the 2022 CAPIO, “All Hands Meet” annual conference in San Diego, CA 8/29-9/1! The California Association of Public Information Officials (CAPIO) is the leading statewide organization dedicated to advancing public sector communicators across all levels of government. The members represent public sector agencies and engage communities through honest and transparent communication. CAPIO provides education and networking that helps its members and their agencies develop and advance. At Planeteria our mission is to design digital experiences that support communities in having positive and productive interactions with their local government. Our core objectives for accessible and state-of-the-art websites for the public sector uniquely align with CAPIO. 

At more than 700 members strong, it’s easy to find the good work CAPIO members are doing in the communities they serve. But CAPIO is NOT just for city public information officials (PIOs). In addition to a core group of municipal and state communications professionals, CAPIO counts among its members the staff of school districts, counties, water and air pollution control districts, parks and open space districts, private PR firms, municipal television channels, police and fire departments, and more—professionals who handle public information and communications duties for these agencies and organizations. In fact, CAPIO’s special district and school district membership is growing daily. 

This year’s conference features Chef Claudia Sandoval, winner of the sixth season of MasterChef U.S and Greg Wong, the Director of Seattle’s Department of Neighborhoods. With an emphasis on DE&I (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion), community engagement and other leading communications topics, the agenda provides in-depth training for both new and seasoned PIOs. We are looking forward to being a part of the conversation and continuing to help advance government communications to the next level. We hope to see you there at booth 19!
